80,000 people died of flu last winter in US

US government says that there are more than 80,000 American folks died of flu last winter in the United States.

According to the US government that this is the disease’s highest death toll in at least four decades. In an interview with the associated press, Dr. Robert Redfield, the director of the centers for disease control and prevention has declared the estimated number of people who died of flu last winter. According to the flu experts that it was a very bad season.

Last year, flu-related death was from 12,000 up to 56,000. The report says that the flu vaccine didn’t work so well. CDC officials don’t have the exact number of how many folks died from flu every year. The flu virus is so common and not all flu cases were been reported. Flu is not listed always on the death certificates. So the CDC has used a statistical model to make estimates. In 1918, there are more than 500,000 American folks died of flu. Last winter & fall, the United States undergo one of the most severe flu seasons in the current memory. The season was bringing a kind of flu that lead to putting more people in the hospital & has caused more death, particularly to the elderly & young children.
